Self-Love Potion

Updated: Aug 22

Spiritual wellness is incredibly important to me. Even years after being removed from the church, I maintain many practices in my life. So, for this, I would first like to preface that the word "potion" may divide readers.

Awesome! Get over it and read the rest of the post.

Just kidding! Please understand that this particular habit is something that anyone can adopt. I find elements of witchcraft all over the Bible. It's about faith, stating intentions, and making an offering to the universe (or God) so that a blessing can be delivered.

Humans actually worship themselves. Individuals are in charge of their lives—not some random deity pulling strings in a silly game that ends in destruction. That's quite sad to consider. I believe religious writings are much like Gulliver's Travels, The Iliad, Canterbury Tales, and other hero arc stories.

We can find light in dark times when we can relate to others. To feel less alone is to feel more loved. I will always find healing in autobiographies. The authors embark on a healing journey by sharing their stories. There are extraordinary people in this world.

You are one of them!

Understanding Spiritual Wellness and Self-Love

Spiritual wellness is not merely a buzzword; it is vital for maintaining balance in our lives. One of the ways to foster this balance is through the practice of self-love.

Incorporating self-love into our routines can be transformative. It creates a foundation for better mental health and emotional resilience. When you take time for yourself, you realize you are worth that effort.

To the Point:

I often make self-love potions when I battle depression and anxiety. Yes, I go through struggles, and this process helps me keep everyone from knowing.

How Do You Know a Self-Love Potion is Needed?

Checking in on the rhythm of your life is a great way to indicate if there is an imbalance in your energy. Conduct a simple review of your schedule to see if you have deprioritized yourself. If you are feeling overworked, tired all the time, or unable to feel joy, it’s time to make a potion.

Have you just left a relationship? That's enough of a reason. It doesn't have to be a toxic relationship, but it does need to be over. Often, relationships hold us back because they require the other person to grow alongside us.

It is uncommon for two people to be on the same trajectory at the same time when they are unequally matched. Therefore, leaving a relationship often leaves an energy gap that could too easily be filled with unhealthy habits. So, make a potion!

Feeling stuck or confused about your future? A disconnect with purpose often leads to trauma or feelings of being an imposter. That disconnect is easily remedied by focusing on yourself, which is why we make a potion.

What is in the Potion?

How Do You Brew a Self-Love Potion?

Timing is everything. I prefer to align my potion-making with moon cycles. Depending on when you set the potion to brew, it will take 30 days to complete.

The full moon brings significance, with each full moon embodying different energies and seasons. Research the moon's phases before starting your brew. You may want to start from a New Moon to a Full Moon, but I recommend full moon to full moon.

Why Friday? It’s known as "Love Day," according to Moon Mother Apothecary, from whom I learned this recipe. Pick up all your apothecary needs there.

Combine the ingredients in a jar or vial. I recommend cleansing the energy of the glass with salt and water beforehand. Seal it well.

Over the next month, perform acts of self-care regularly. Each time you pour into yourself, keep the jar nearby. Touch the jar and mix the contents by turning it over a few times.

This is an active brew.

Love Doesn’t Hide in a Dark Corner

Every day of the brewing is crucial for your self-love journey. It’s essential to do at least one thing for yourself. Whether it’s shopping, getting a pedicure, or trying out a new healthy recipe, make it count.

Put the potion in your gym bag or keep it close while working out. Lock the bathroom door and let the kids bang without guilt.

Get the picture?

Then What?

After the potion has brewed, the best part awaits! We are literally ingesting our love.

A spoonful of the Self-Love Potion can be mixed with hot water to create a delicious tea. You can smear it on a piece of toast. Strain the roses and mix a bit into your favorite shea butter to make a homemade salve.

Or simply dip your finger in the jar for a sweet treat.

Most importantly, 21 days of consistency creates lasting habits. Throughout the brewing process, you will have developed the practice of nurturing yourself. These habits are here to stay!

Every time the potion is ingested, affirmations should be spoken. This can also be done during one of your self-care rituals. The potion serves as a reminder of how beneficial it is to invest in yourself.

Conclusion

Self-Love Potions can be made at any time. There’s no limit to how often one should remind themselves they are loved.

To attract love and prosperity into your life, you must first learn to love yourself. If we never take the time to build our weaknesses, we never become strong. A sense of purpose is vital in this journey.

It’s normal to feel unloved sometimes, but it’s NOT normal to neglect self-love.

So, give it a try, and let’s talk about how it goes!
